Bicentennial Cell Phone/Technology Policy

Bicentennial School Cell Phone/Technology Policy 2024

● Students are to leave their cellphones in their lockers at the start of morning and afternoon classes.

● During lunch break, JUNIOR HIGH students are permitted to use their devices.

● When the lunch bell rings to end the break, cellphones are to be placed in their locker as they prepare for their afternoon classes.

● Cameras are not permitted to be used unless permission has been given by a teacher or by administration. This includes taking ‘selfies’ and other photos to post to social media.

● Students are not permitted to have earbuds/headphones in or around their ears in the hallway or in class (without instructional permission).

● Occasionally, teachers may request cell phones to be used for instructional purposes. Teachers will communicate these times directly to students.

● Students may be subject to disciplinary action if their use of their cell phone disrupts the school’s educational environment. Examples of this include, but are not limited to: cheating, bullying, harassment, unlawful recording or photographing, and violation of other school rules.

Discipline Action:

1) If a student is found with their phone in class, they will be asked to bring it to the office and it will be returned to them at the end of the school day. We will follow up with a phone call home.

2) A second infraction will result in the student turning their cell phone into the office first thing in the morning for the remainder of the week. The phone will be returned at the end of every day.

3) A third incident will result in a one day in-school suspension.

*The Code of Conduct will be used for any further incidents.
